About NAMBA:

The Niseko Area Mountain Bike Association (NAMBA) is Japan’s premier trails organization and the leading advocate for mountain biking in the Niseko area. Established in 2021 by local mountain biking enthusiasts, NAMBA is dedicated to enhancing the mountain biking infrastructure and promoting the sport in the region – and having a damn good time while doing it!

In 2022, NAMBA achieved significant milestones, including official nonprofit status in Japan and the groundbreaking of the Twin Peaks Bike Park in partnership with Allegra. The park, located in Hirafu, offers free access to approximately 30 kilometers of interconnected trails suitable for riders of all ages and skill levels.

2023 marked the Grand Opening of the Twin Peaks Bike Park, featuring ~9.5km of trails, and strengthened partnerships with local resorts, stakeholders, and leading mountain bike brands. By the end of the building season, NAMBA had completed over 14 kilometers of trails within the park.

Building on this success, 2024 promises further expansion of the Twin Peaks Bike Park and other exciting plans, making it an exciting time to join NAMBA and contribute to our vision for the area.

About the Operations Manager Role:

As the Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Twin Peaks Bike Park and other essential NAMBA projects. You will be a key leader in our organization, responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the park to provide visitors with an exceptional mountain biking experience.

Just as our Trail Crew members are local legends, the Operations Manager is a pivotal figure in the community, known and respected by all. You will work closely with the NAMBA Board, Trail Subcommittee, and Access Subcommittee to coordinate operations and ensure the park’s success.

With 14+ kilometers of trails completed as of 2023 and ambitious plans for 2024, you will lead a team of dedicated individuals in creating and maintaining world-class trails. You will collaborate with contracted Trail Builders, and the NAMBA Trail Crew (our building team, and our maintenance team), to achieve our goals, reporting to the NAMBA Board and working alongside our staff and contractors to bring our vision to life.

The employment period for the Operations Manager will run from 1 May 2024 to 31 October 2024, with potential for extension based on performance and mutual agreement.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about mountain biking, possess strong leadership skills, and have a background in trail building and maintenance. This role requires someone who can work independently, manage a team effectively, and ensure the park operates smoothly to provide visitors with an exceptional experience.

Due to the multicultural nature of Niseko, strong preference will be given to candidates who are able to communicate in both English and Japanese.
